DESDMONA'S SEX IN THE RAIN CONTEST

You know what they say about April Showers?

Well, we don't want any of that crap.

It's time for Desdmona.com's latest sex story contest, and this one will
take place in the rain. It could be one of those warm afternoon drizzles as the
sun dips behind a cloud, or it could be an
I-can-barely-breathe-through
-the-gushing torrents type. But whatever it is, there has to be some of that wet
stuff falling out of the sky. And no matter if the story is dark and hard,
pelting, painful, wet, and cold or gentle and warm, cleansing, sprinkling, and fresh,
it must have hot sizzling sex in it.

We want your original, erotic stories, and we want it to have something to
do with the rain. Be sure to keep the word count under our 1000-word umbrella,
and drop it off, still wet and dripping.

Desdmona's Sex in the Rain Contest is an erotic short story contest. Stories
must be 1000 words or less. There is no entry fee. Only two stories are
allowed per author. Stories must be received by Monday, March 31, 2008. Prizes will
be awarded to the judges' three favorite stories:
 First prize: $250
Second prize: $150
Third prize: $75
Honorable mention prizes of $25 will be awarded at the discretion of
desdmona.com and the judges.

Winners will be picked by our judges and will be based on quality of
writing, erotic appeal, originality, and adherence to contest theme. Please, be
imaginative! The winning stories and honorable mentions will be displayed on
desdmona.com on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.

 Contest Rules:

 1. PURPOSE. To encourage authors to write new erotic literature, and to
promote the art of erotic literature on the Internet.

 2. AWARDS. $250 First prize - $150 Second prize - $75 Third prize.
Honorable Mention prizes of $25 may be awarded at the discretion of Desdmona.com and
the contest judges. Prize money will be awarded in US funds, in the form of a
postal money order or a bank draft drawn on a US bank. Alternative payment
methods will be permitted if agreed to by both Desdmona.com and the winning
author.

Winning authors agree to have their winning stories published at
Desdmona.com indefinitely. Stories that do not win a prize will not be displayed at
Desdmona.com.

 3. ENTRY FEE. None.

 4. ELIGIBILITY. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Employees of
Desdmona.com and their families, and contest judges and their families, are not
eligible to enter this contest.

Word documents (DOC or RTF files) as attachments, and we can accept plain text.
Section breaks should be marked with a line of asterisks. Plain text entries
should be single-spaced with a blank line between paragraphs. Other formats
will not be accepted.

At most two stories are permitted per author.

The subject line of the submission should include the words "Sex in the Rain
Contest." The submission email must include a valid reply address. Upon
receipt of the story and acceptance by the contest pre-screener, Desdmona.com will
email the entrant that the story has been received and accepted.

IMPORTANT! All entries must include the ENTRY TEXT which appears at the end
of these rules. Copy this ENTRY TEXT and paste it into the body of the entry
email. Entries without this text will not be accepted.

contest deadline. The author agrees not to publish the story, or permit the

the website, winning stories may be edited for style and content. No
modifications will be made without the explicit consent of the author.

Sex & Spirituality antholo

Call for submissions
Sex & Spirituality anthology
Publication date: Summer 2008
http://www.cleansheets.com/submit/sex%26spiritualitybook.shtml

Sex & Spirituality will be the third anthology in the From Porn to Poetry
series, sponsored in part by Clean Sheets Magazine. This is the first 'themed'
anthology in the series, and it will be edited by Susannah Indigo. We are
looking for stories and poems that invoke spirituality along with
eroticism -- the
topic is wide open, and not limited by any conventional definition of
"spirituality." Your submission doesn't have to be serious, though we
love deep and
serious -- it can be funny, inspiring, profound, fantastical, but please be sure
to make it new, something we've never read before. Sex & Spirituality will be
pansexual in nature, and all varieties of erotic encounters are encouraged.

Stories should be less than 5000 words, and can be much shorter. Payment is
$50/story, $25/poem, for one-time anthology rights, along with 2 copies of the
book. Please send submissions either pasted in an email or as an .rtf or .doc
attachment with this information in the subject line: POEM: name of poem
or FICTION: name of story

Deadline is March 1, 2008

Mission
To collect true stories from gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered
individuals of all faiths and cultures who have been successful in
their search for
spiritual connection. These stories will be brought together in one anthology
which will depict the struggles and successes of the contributors.

Profile
Renee Evans is a published writer. She is also a former fundamentalist
Christian. Renee left this religion at age forty-five, divorced and
came out as a
gay woman at age fifty. She has realized that there is a great void which exists
for gay, lesbian, and transgendered people who feel the need for spiritual
connection. Having spent most of her life in Georgia, she is acutely aware of
the intolerance so prevalent in conservative Christian society.

Information
Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgendered...The Search for Spirituality will be a
collection of stories from all over the world - people from different faiths and
cultures who have been successful in finding that connection. Uplifting,
inspiring, healing and comforting, these stories will guide those who
are seeking,
and encourage those who thought there was no hope of finding a spiritual
home.

News
This is a project I have put together that has caught the interest of two
publishers. I do not have a contract, however both publishers have expressed
their interest in seeing the finished manuscript. Anyone interested in sharing
their stories as a contribution to the book for publication should contact me at
the email above. Your submission should contain 1500 - 2000 words. Upon
publication of the book, authors whose stories are chosen for publication in the
book will receive three hundred dollars to be dispersed as one percent of
royalties until a maximun of three hundred dollars is reached. The deadline for

Who’s Your Mama: The Voices of Unsung Women and Mothers
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Who’s Your Mama: The Voices of Unsung Women and Mothers
http://www.yvonnebynoe.com/Whos-Your-Mama.html

Looking for women writers in the U.S. who are mothers, trying to become
mothers and who are childless by choice or circumstance
There are so many books published about the motherhood experiences of
affluent, married, White women, books that often revolve around the "mommy wars," the
raging debate between mothers who work and those who stay at home. The fact
that this small demographic is represented in the media as the face of U.S.
motherhood has effectively removed the voices and stories of the true majority of
mothers from the public dialogue. The true majority includes mothers who are:
women of color, low and middle
income, single, bisexual or lesbian.
This anthology proposes to gather women’s writings about motherhood that
addresses race, class, sexuality, identity and intimate partnership. We have
chosen to use the words women and motherhood, but it’s being used to focus on the
female experience of parenting under patriarchy, not to exclusively
define it.
Gen-X/Hip Hop generation women, those born between 1965 and 1984, grew up in
the aftermath of social and political revolutions of the 1960s and 1970s that
sought to re-define marriage, sexuality
and motherhood. While the primary societal messages continue to trumpet
traditional values and heterosexual marriage as the preferred norm, on the ground,
women are actively engaged in
crafting identities and family structures (including remaining single and/or
childless) that speak practically to their personal beliefs, intimate
relationships and economic realities.
Demographically, this generation of mothers looks different from its
predecessors. Many did not even have children until they were 25 years old or older
and on average they are having only two children. Therefore in comparison to
their mothers and grandmothers they are older and have fewer children to look
after. Having come of age in the 1980s and 1990s these women also grew up taking
feminism (and the benefits it bestowed) as a given. For Gen-X and Hip Hop
generation women, they believe that they can choose to raise healthy happy
children and still be true to themselves.
Unlike previous generations, Gen-X women are represented by a diversity of
contexts for motherhood that include heterosexual marriages, single parenting,
committed partnership and gay marriage. Furthermore we recognize that the
ability of a woman to have the option to be a working mother or a stay at home
mother is frequently dependent on her socio-economic standing as demonstrated by
her access to informational and financial resources, nearby, reliable and
affordable child care and good
fortune to work in a flexible work environment.
Furthermore, more women are consciously choosing not to have children and it
is necessary to understand the remaining societal costs or the unexpected
freedoms that are the consequence of
choosing to remain childless. Lastly, every mother was someone before she had
children. Therefore while motherhood is a significant life event, this book
wants to examine how women develop other aspects of themselves alongside their
identities as mothers, including their careers, friendships (particularly with
other women), sexual personas, intimate relationships, familial and community
bonds.
Many Gen-X women, although they were brought up and encouraged to "have it
all" have a thorny relationship with feminism. Many understand that the freedoms
that they take for granted, including the right to: work in nontraditional
jobs; receive equal work for equal and; have reproductive choice were the
result of feminist agitation. Nevertheless while many young women eagerly
embrace the feminist label, far more equate feminism with angry, unattractive,
affluent, man-hating, White women and do not
believe that feminism represents their perspectives on religion, sexuality,
culture, class or race. We are interested in ascertaining whether a woman
choosing to become a mother or not is influenced by her identification with
feminism (even if that identification is oppositional) and its perceived tenets, how
does a woman’s acceptance (or rejection) of feminism or its principles inform
her mothering or extend her focus on social and political issues such as
parental leave, affordable childcare, court enforced child support, etc?.
We are seeking honest essays written in the first-person from Gen X/Hip Hop
generation women of all classes, races, sexualities and religions. Submissions
from emerging as well as established
writers, activists, scholars and everyday women will be accepted. The
personal narrative should record how your decision about motherhood empowered you and
in some way made you reconsider a
way of being, a personal truth, political ideology or cultural norm or
community standard that you have never previously questioned. Additionally, we are
interested in essays that explore how new definitions of motherhood and female
empowerment are pushing women toward new thinking around social and political
change. We welcome and will consider new ideas in addition to the topics
suggested below.
the emotional and financial costs of motherhood
mothering and sexual identity
how becoming a mother changes your politics
daycare and childcare
single motherhood
lesbian or bisexual mothering
motherhood and marriage/committed partnership
gender and care of the children
health care and motherhood
motherhood and poverty
what does having it all really mean?
what makes a feminist mother different from others?
balancing motherhood and work
discrimination against mothers in the workplace
negotiating societal expectations about motherhood
race, class and motherhood
raising bi-racial children or children of a different race
childless because you do not want children
childless because you do not have a committed partner (and you do
not want to be a single mom)
childless because you believe that having a child would adversely
affect your career or finances
infertility
adoptive mothers/guardians/foster parents
incarcerated mothers

SHE SAID, SHE SAID
Call for Submissions!
http://www.brownreclusebooks.com/CallForSubmissions.html
SHE SAID, SHE SAID: Selected Essays from Enlightened Eves to Clueless Adams
(What Women Really Talk About Behind Closed Doors)

Coming in the Fall of 2008, women around the world speak out in the
controversial and eye-opening anthology,
SHE SAID, SHE SAID. Tired of volume after volume on what men absolutely have
to have to be satisfied with
the women in their lives, we decided it was time to flip the script. Since
men selectively listen, we've selected
essay prompts designed to push the envelope and help them find their way in
from the dog house. Now all they
have to do is roll over, sit up and pay attention...just like Spot.

Ladies, throw us a bone and your essay could be chosen for SHE
SAID, SHE SAID.

In 2000-3000 words, respond to the essay prompt that speaks to you. What we'd
especially like to see is a well
written narrative account of your experience, along with commentary on how
you overcame your dilemma and
the positive lesson(s) you learned because of it. Try to refrain from
male-bashing, please. We want our
audience to personally connect with you and the message you're conveying. Of
course, an epiphany or two
would be nice, as well. Write to answer the question, "What do women really
want?" Be as witty, satirical and/or
humorous as you dare!

Please only address one essay prompt per submission and submit no more than
two separate essays per
author. Only one essay per author will be included in the anthology and if it
comes down to choosing between
two essays by the same author, we will choose the one that makes our toes
curl the hardest. Chosen
contributors will receive two free copies of the book, $25 and a full "author
page" in the book (publicity text
of your choosing). ** Note: Special arrangements can be made for chosen
contributors who might wish to
remain anonymous.
Essay Prompts:

1. I never thought I'd seek intimacy outside of my relationship
but... (Why did you step outside of the
relationship and what did you discover about yourself in the process? What do
you want readers to learn
from your experience? Define intimacy on your own terms.)
2. With friends like these, who needs enemies? (How were you
betrayed, by whom and what did you
learn as a result of the betrayal? If you betrayed someone else, tell us why
and touch on the lesson(s)
you learned.)
3. I knew I was in love when... (Tell us about your definition of
love, a time when you knew you were in
love and how it moved/changed you for the better. Think of this as positive
reinforcement, like Pavlov's
bells.)
4. Dear Lover... (Something you've always wanted to tell your man,
your girlfriend's man and/or men
everywhere about loving a woman correctly. In your opinion, what do women
need from their men and
how should men give them what they need? By contrast, don't be afraid to laud
your partner for doing
you right, if that's what you need to do. Just make sure you're clear on what
"right" means to you.)
5. When the relationship became unhealthy for my soul, I... (Now
safely on the other side of some
form of abuse, tell us how you found yourself in an abusive relationship and
how you escaped. If you
could sit down with an/your abuser, what would you want him to know?)
6. Back from a trip around the world: (Help men unravel the mystery
of the infamous "baggage" women
are said to carry around with them. When did you start packing yours and why?
What will it take for you
to leave it behind or can you? How much of the load are men responsible for
carrying (if any) and how
much of the load are you responsible for hiding behind?)

The first round of submissions will be accepted August 15, 2007 - December
15, 2007. Email submission(s),
including a brief bio and contact information to editors(
at)brownreclusebooks.com(replace (at) with @). Please note: essay text
must be pasted into the body of the email, as attachments will not be opened.
Or mail submissions to:
